<p>Peat or turf is powdered and the pref. compsn. also contains clay, esp. beads or balls of expanded clay. The pref. compsn. contains 1 pt. vol. cement with 7 pts. vol. expanded clay, 0.5 pt. vol. alumina, and 2 pts. vol. powdered peat or turf; and these quantities can vary within reasonable limits. The compsn. may also contain metal oxides added to produce imitation wood of a desired colour; and the mixt. is pref. moulded under pressure in a mould exposed to vibration to produce prods. with a desired shape. This compsn. contains no wood fibres, and resists heat. It is non-combustible.</p> |
