The machine transport frame is for packaging an internal combustion engine or heavy colide. It has two or more parallel oblong members (44, 46) and two or more oblong connecting beams (40, 42). The part of each member securing the machine is of high-density very strong buffer material, made of a large number of layers of cardboard glued together, and has two sides (52, 54) extending upwards, partly enclosing a space in which the item to be transported is held. Each of these sides is at between 90 and 125 deg. to the horizontal with the frame in the horizontal position.
