A flat coil (1) with a spiral shape, which is used as an inductive element in an integrated circuit. It can be made with a given efficiency factor, where the stray field can be kept to a minimum. The geometrical parameters have definite numerical values. There is a fixed relationship between the width of the printed wiring and the distance between the turns of the printed wiring. The thickness of the printed wiring is also related to the skin effect at the operating frequency. The relationship between the internal diameter and the external diameter of the coil is approximately one quarter.
