An electric storage battery made up of a stack of intercell partitions 23 having at least one pair of opposed edges, juxtaposed to preformed sheets, the said opposed edges being a close fit with the said sheets 10, 11, 12, 13, but not sealed thereto, the electrodes being enclosed within compartments formed by the partitions 23, the preformed sheets 10, 11, 12, 13, and means 14 and 15 enclosing the opposed faces of the stack.
