The skipping rope has handles (10) at each end, incorporating a counter (18) for the number of turns and measuring the number of revolutions or beats per unit of time. The counter has a drive shaft (20) connected to the rope, and is inserted into the handle on the end facing the rope. The counter is fixed by rings, or by a screw, pin or similar fixture crosswise to the axis of the handle. The handle has a transparent part through which a dial with figures on belonging to the counter is visible. The rope is fixed to the handle by a telescopic intermediate shaft, one end of which is fixed to a pivot shaft and the other end to a drive shaft.
