The frame holds units for insertable subassemblies connected with each other at the back by plug boards and wiring on the back wall, and with subassemblies in other units by pluggable cables. The units holding the subassemblies are of different widths and hold different numbers of subassemblies. The rack frame consists only of vertical side bars (3) and horizontal top and bottom bars (4) which limit a clear space (5) for the mechanically stable units (1) fastened to the vertical bars (3) and/or to the vertical walls of adjacent units (1).
