The overhead lighting system using tubular fluorescent lamps with reflectors whose openings are flush with the false ceiling, combines a sound absorbing system with the reflector casings. Between the lamps and the top sheet of the casing is supported a layer of sound absorbent porous material or foil. The lower surface of this layer forms a bright reflective surface and is spaced from the inside surface of the top sheet. This distance can be regulated. The layer can be a mineral fleece with a light reflecting coating. The layer can be attached to spacers using adhesive strips.
