The anti-skid chain has end-side connecting hooks and a releasable central hook (8) arranged on the inner side chain (2) between two tread nets (6, 7). An improved quick-fitting aid is composed of an adjusting element (9) which is arranged on the two diagonal chain sections (6a, 7a), which diverge from each other in a V-shape, opposite the releasable central hook (8) such that it can be displaced and secured in a self-locking manner. By this means it is possible to place the tread net (6, 7) of the chain snugly against the tyre circumference, when pulling said chain up over the largest tyre outer diameter with the central hook (8) open, in such a manner that when the central hook (8) is closed the chain cannot slip back downwards over the largest tyre outer diameter. <IMAGE>
