The shelving comprises U-section supports which hang from the rows of window slots in the rails or hollow columns wherein each individual support (5) has at least one support member (10) above the bearing points which form the ends of inner hook shapes. The support member likewise adjoins the front face of the rail and locks the support in the first instance against swivelling up and out. The fixed seat of the support means that locking tongues are no longer necessary so it is easier to hang up the support shelves. Should the support shelf be accidentally knocked from below the leverage effect on the support is so great that it encounters considerable friction resistance at the front face to prevent the support from being lifted out.
