<p>A method is used for separating and lifting rod shaped elements such as rods and pipes from a bundle. On one side of the bundle the free lying end of one element is seized by a gripper unit and lifted. The partially separated end section of the element is further lifted by a lifting unit and finally the element is lifted over its whole length from the remainder of the bundle and held ready for laying up. After the operation of the first lifting unit, a second lifting unit is moved below the partially lifted element whilst the one sided lifting operation continues. Subsequently all the lifting units are raised to the same level.</p> |
