1,246,074. Clamps. BROWN & ROOT Inc. 19 March, 1970 [16 April, 1969], No. 13316/70. [Also in Division F2] A riser pipe 14 of an offshore pipeline is secured to a beam 12 of a platform by means of a clamping assembly comprising a clamp 20 with a bar 22 rigidly fixed to the clamp and perpendicular to the pipe, the bar being held in a clamp 24 perpendicular to and attached to a clamp 26 holding the beam, thus allowing universal adjustment movement of the pipe relative to the beam. Each clamp comprises two semi-cylindrical hinged halves held together by bolts pivoted in slots and locked by nuts, Fig. 4 (not shown). Clamps 24, 26 are fixed at right angles to each other, or have circular mating plates, Fig. 5 (not shown), one plate having two diametrically opposed bolts received in arcuate slots in the other plate to allow adjustment of angularity between the axes of the clamps 24, 26. The clamps 20, 26 have insulating linings to reduce corrosion of the beams 12 and pipe 14. A steel shield 15 surrounds pipe 14 to prevent rupture at the clamp. |
