[Also in Divisions A2 and C2] Animal and vegetable edible oils and fats, such as frying oils, salad oils, lard, beef tallow, a hardened oil, for example hardened corn oil butter and margarine, are enriched by adding to them novel fatty acid amides of the formula wherein R is a saturated or unsaturated, straight or branched aliphatic hydrocarbon chain having 15 to 25 carbon atoms, optionally substituted by OH group, A is C 1-4 alkyl, monocyclic aryl or monocyclic aralkyl, and B is a heterocyclic radical containing a nitrogen, oxygen or sulphur atom as the heteroatom. The said amides have chlolesterol-lowering activity.
