The contact assembly is used in telecommunications equipment. It comprises two metal strips (2, 3). The short strip (2) forms the connection for wiring, the long strip (3) the spring contact (4). The mechanical connection between the strips is the clamp formed by rails (11, 12) of the insulated housing, and a projection (8) on the long strip which fits into a recess (9) in the short one. The assembler eliminates the need for spot welding of the two components.
