Multi-ratio transmission for utility vehicle - incorporates conventional gearbox in line with epicyclic drive shaft

The modified gearbox for the utility vehicle has a multi-speed epicyclic gearbox in one part of the bell housing and a two speed mechanical gearchange on the end of the bell housing. The mechanical gearchange is operated by the central clutch on the flywheel. The system extends the range of speeds available from the epicyclic transmission without extending the length of the bell housing. The mechanical gearbox is separated from the rest of the bell housing by a bulkhead which all allows an oil bath for the mechanical gearbox.
