PURPOSE:To enable a charged latent image of both plus and minus polarities by either recording method of contact type or non-contact type, without using a high voltage, by using an electrostatic recording head equipped with a trigger electrode in a position close extremely to a recording electrode. CONSTITUTION:Surface of a dielectric layer 11 is charged by a corona charger 12. When a pulse-like recording voltage is impressed, an electric field existing between a recording electrode 2 and a grounded trigger electrode 20 becomes larger in strength, electrons by electric field discharge from the electrode 2 and electronic ions existing in gaps are provided with high energy. With these electrons, etc. as a trigger, first of all, discharge to gaseous body is caused between the electrodes 2 and 20 in the direction of the dotted line arrow. This expands in a gap between the electrode 2 and surface of the dielectric layer 11, and plus charge is removed from the surface of the dielectric layer 11. And a surface region, which is facing the recording electrode 2 of the dielectric layer 11, is discharged or charged. |
