PURPOSE:To compensate easily an erosion length of an electrode caused by electric spark machining allowing the positioning operation to make in a short time even for a large number of plate electrodes configuring to allow to lock when the plate electrode is moved to set at a fixed position. CONSTITUTION:First, a head unit 12 is operated to allow an electrode holding unit 8 to move to the position according to the outer diameter of the roll 1. Secondly, an electrode 7 is embedded into a guide device 10 of the electrode holding unit 8. Thirdly, both ends of the electrode 7 embedded into the guide device 10 with aid of clamping device 17 of an electrode feed device 9 are clamped, a forwarding device 18 of the said unit 9 to advance the electrode 7 to the roll 1 direction, at the process finish position the electrode 7 is fixed with the electrode holding device 8 by use of a locking device 11. Then, the clamping device 17 is returned to the original position with the forwarding device 18, permitting for moving to the position in keeping the electrode holding device 8 away from the roll 1 by providing a processing clearance between the electrode 7 and the roll 1. |
