<p>PURPOSE: To obtain polyurethane-backed textiles excellent in dimensional stability and adhesivity by adhering a composition comprising a mixture of a specific polyol and an additional polyol, a compound including active hydrogen, a polyisocyanate and a catalyst, to one side of base textiles. CONSTITUTION: This composition comprises (A) a polyol including mixture of a relatively high equivalent weight polyol containing an average of about 1.4-1.95 hydroxyl groups per molecule and an additional relatively high equivalent weight polyol containing 2.05 hydroxyl groups per molecule, (B) a relatively low equivalent weight compound having about 2 active hydrogen containing moieties per molecule (e.g.; ethylene glycol or the like), (C) a polyisocyanate (e.g.; 2,4-toluenediisocyanate or the like) and (D) a catalyst, wherein the functionalities and proportions of components (A), (B) and (C) are such that such components have an average functionality of bout 1.97-2.03, and the composition has an isocyanate index of about 85 to about 125. The urethane composition is coated to a pile ground fabric having adjusted moisture content of 2-4 wt.%., in amount of 1-300 ounce/square yards, and heat hardening.</p> |
