PURPOSE:To remove the fin being formed in the slab utilizing the growth of the scale, by controlling the setting of temperatures for the heating zone and preheating zone and of the detention time for the slab in the furnace, so as to make the forecasted thickness of the scale to be readily scaling off equal to the measured thickness of the actual scale. CONSTITUTION:The controller D decides at any time the temperatures to be set for the preheating zone of the preheating furnace 2 and for the heating furnace 3 both being included in the heating furnace facilities 1, and the detention time for the slab S at each zone, depending on the rolling schedule A, the forecasted thickness B of the scale to be readily scaling off, and the measured thickness C of the actual scale. Hereby, the scale is grown on the surface of the slab S into a thickness capable of removing the fin, while the slab S is passing through the heating furnace facelities 1. According to this operating method, the fin can be removed from the surface of the slab S by the scale, while the slab S is being heated with the optimum fuel consumption uniformly to temperatures required of the slab S to be rolled, and the product is prevented from the scab. |
