<p>A fishing rod with good casting characteristics comprises a hollow shaft with a line entry opening member recessed in the rod at the handle end, a reinforcing sleeve in the shaft at the member, spaced support eyes within the shaft to hold the line away from the surface when casting, and an exit opening at the rod tip. The entry opening is pref. in a moulded cartridge of acetal resin, nylon or ABS which slots into a rod recess. There is pref. a friction-reducing tape of nylon or PTFE wound spirally on the inner surface of the shaft and each eye has a frustoconical passageway with the smallest end towards the rod tip and has drainage holes or slots in the side walls. The eyes are pref. of stainless steel.</p> |
