The igniter for a reaction chamber is mounted in a tapered block (9) which fits into a hole (1) in the top (2) of the chamber. After ignition, a temperature sensor operates when the temperature rises to release a securing catch system (12, 13) so that the block with the igniter mounted on it is lifted by a spring (10). The block is then secured in the raised position by a swinging arm (6) attached to an upper plate. At the same time, as this arm is secured in its upper position, a catch (8) mounted on it releases a stop (5) mounted on the side of a tapered plug (3) mounted on another swinging arm (4). This allows the plug to swing down and fit into the hole from which the tapered block was released, sealing it again.
