A portion 18 of the stator of a variable reluctance stepper motor is formed including windings 20 wrapped around pole members 16, and another portion in the form of an annular ring 26 is then adhesively bonded to the portion 18. The ring 26 which includes the teeth 28 of the magnetic stepper motor is then cut through to form the separate pole faces 30. The stator pole construction can be employed as moving or stationary pole structures and in linear or rotary stepper motors. Individual pole members (16a Figures 11, 12 not shown) with integral teeth (28a), or adhesively bonded toothed pole faces (30b), may be adhesively bonded to a core (18b), windings (20) being mounted on each pole prior to bonding to the core. <IMAGE> |
