A solid, storable, pulverisable fuel product having a reasonably consistent calorific value is produced from thick, mobile (usually tarry and/or oily) waste material (I) having an appreciable calorific value by homogenising (I) with water (II), a finely divided, aluminosilicate-based substance (III) and hydraulic cement (IV). (II) may be organically contaminated aq. waste. (III) is esp. low-grade coal fines, esp. colliery waste. Opt. an inert finely divided solid having a calorific value may also be incorporated. Wastes contg. suspended solids may be utilised.
