<p>PROCESS FOR MAKING SOFT, HIGH-BULK, LOW-DENSITY FINELY CREPED SHEETS By the use of a controled spray application to one surface of a nonthermally dewatered paper web, including a bonding inhibitor, a soft, high-bulk, low-density, finely creped sheet is provided. The spraying step is controled so that an adhesive, in the form of uniform, discrete droplets, is sprayed onto one surface of the web and optimum coverage of the web by the adhesive droplets is attained. The sprayed surface of the web is then uniformly adhered to a thermal drying surface and, after the web is dried, is creped therefrom.</p> |
