Cross-linked, high m. wt. polymers contng. carboxylic ester and carboxamide gps. are formed by heating at 100 degrees to 300 degrees C. polyoxazolines with >=2 oxazoline rings, of formula:- (where R and R' are H, 1-8C alkyl, 6-12C aryl; R" is a polyvalent organic residue; n is 1 to 3), with products of m. wt. >=600, and >=2 carboxyl gps. capable of reacting with the oxazoline rings, and the functionally of at least one of the two components towards the other being >2. They are used for making coatings, adhesives, mouldings. |
