Roofing tile is used for producing roofing which has high resistance to the suction effect of the wind. No additional anchoring features are used for fixing tiles on the roof frame. The tile underside has force transmission lugs (6) and the weather side has similar snow catching lugs (7). The corner lugs can be connected on two sides by continuous shallow ribs (9). These otherwise flat tiles are placed on the roof frame so that their ends overlap. The top lugs act as stops for the overlapping edge of the adjacent upper tile and underside lugs form connectors with the roof structure. These tiles can be overlapped in either direction depending on prevailing winds, and are not readily lifted by wind effects. They can be produced readily from clay, asbestos cement or ceramics.
