<p>A flocculation process, useful in hydrometallurgy to give excellent separation of leach liquor Aom insoluble residues and to recover liquor impregnated in the residues, comprises introducing into the suspension a major part (55-95% of the total quantity) of a flocculant, agitating the suspension to cover all the solids with the flocculant and then, after discontinuing agitation, adding the remainder of the flocculant. Instead of using very dilute flocculant solns. as in prior art (2 g/l, usually 0.5 g/l), more conc. solns (e.g. 5-10 g/l) or even undiluted flocculants can be used. This is useful when large amts of flocculant are to be added.</p> |
