Two magnetic strips (1) which run parallel to each other are fastened on a common, flexible base (3). The two strips (1) have magnetic regions (+, -) which run next to each other, are parallel and are alternately differently polarised. In the clamping position, the differently polarised regions (+, -) lie against each other such that they stick together. In the open releasing or receiving position, the polarised regions (+, -) lie opposite each other with the spacing (c), with the result that they repel each other. The device is simple to actuate using just one hand and can be used universally in a wide variety of application areas, for example as a holder for pieces of paper (5). <IMAGE>
