Rigid plastic pipes with a wall thickness of 20% of their inner diameter are shaped by pressing the annular pipe end at room temp. with an axial frontwards movement against an annular concave shaping body which is open at one side, for spreading and turning inside out the pipe end, and turning over the shaped pipe end with release from the shaping body by continuous pressing, in the shape of a loop extending in the axial direction towards the rear and then inwards to the pipe wall so that its lower side lies against the pipe wall. A concentric outer tube section of predefined length can be rapidly and easily formed on the end of rigid plastic pipes.
