PURPOSE:To produce the covering layers composed of metal oxide and metal carbide and enable continuous casting to be accomplished without any defect by thermally decomposing metal salt and hydrocarbon to the laminated surfaces of the plating layer and alloy plating layer of the mold casting surface. CONSTITUTION:After the surface of the mold substrate has been pretreated, first the first plating layer composed of at least one of Ni and Co is applied. Next, the second alloy plating layer composed of P; 3-20%, B; 2-15% and the rest at least one of Ni; Co respectively based on weight is applied. Thence, the mixture of metal salt and hydrocarbon is coated to an even thickness on the laminated surface and is thermally decomposed in an oxygen atmosphere. Then, the metal salt acts as a metal supply source and the hydrocarbon as a reducing agent, as a result of which the C in the hydrocarbon and metal combine to form metal carbide and oxygen and metal combine to form metal oxide. These become mixed phases and adhere to the second layer surfade. |
