The plant needed for making use of the process comprises the oven (1) and quenching trough (8). The articles (13) are suspended from the support (14) which, initially, can be placed outside the oven. The hanger (19), makes it possible by virtue of the means of attachment (16) suspended from the chain (18), to attach the support (14) and to bring the load (13) into the oven, after which the lid (4) is placed in position. To transfer the load (13) into the trough (8), use is made of the hanger (23) which comprises the bell (22) attached to the chain (24) which carries the gripping means (25). The latter are attached to the support (14). The bell (22) protects the articles during the transfer, while a new load can be prepared and attached to the gripping means (16). <IMAGE>
