1295017 Pulse generators BENDIX CORP 13 May 1971 [18 May 1970] 14721/71 Heading H3P [Also in Division H1] A spiral generator for energizing an X-ray tube 12, Fig. 2, comprises two copper foil conductors 16 and 18 insulated from each other by sheets of polyester film to form an open-ended transmission line which is wound into a spiral of 30 turns with the inner end of the outer conductor 16 connected to the anode 20 and its outer end connected to the cathode 26. In operation the outer conductor 16 is earthed and the inner conductor 18 is charged to -10 Kv via cable 31, and a pulse is applied to the spark gap 36 to produce a voltage pulse of about 100 Kv on the anode of the X-ray tube. The X-ray tube, the spiral generator, and the spark gap 36 are surrounded and held by a moulded dielectric resin housing. |
