Vulcanisable linear alkene copolymers are prepd. by contacting (I) ethylene, and/or (II) a 3-20C alpha-alkene and (II) a 5-alkenyl-2-norbornene cpd. of the exo type, with a catalyst consisting of (IV) an organoaluminium cpd. of formula AIRnX3-n, where R = a normal hydrocarbyl group; X = halogen; and n = 1-23; and (V) a vanadium and/or titanium cpd, which is at least trivalent. The alkene copolymers valcanise easily with sulphur. The rate of vulcanisation is greater than for the corresponding copolymers prepd. from endo-cpds.
