<p>Appts. comprises a mix homogenisation tank and a freezer, interconnected by a pumping circuit, and is fitted with pressure and flow regulators and mixer, between the pump and freezer; the mixer is a hermetically sealed vessel connected to a pressurised gas source and contains a main drop-pipe open at the bottom and an auxiliary drop-pipe which connects the gas blanket above the mix to the main drop-pipe. The main drop-pipe leads at the top into the discharge pipe for the gasified mix. The gas blanket causes static mixing of gas and mix and also forces the mix up the main drop-pipe, where it entrains additional gas entering through a port from the auxiliary drop-pipe, and originating in the gas-blanket. The advantages include improved initial accuracy of "over-run" (final/initial volume ratio) and good stability of this value.</p> |
