A reinforcing element for hoses and bellows comprises a ring 1 of hollow profiled material and a ring 3 of a cross section corresponding to the hollow material, the hose material 2 being clamped between both rings. Guiding eyes 4 for ropes 5 may be incorporated as part of ring 1. Various cross sections of rings 1 and 3 are disclosed.
