PROCESS FOR THE APPLICATION OF NITROGEN CONTAINING METAL CHELATES AS ACCELERATORS FOR MOULDING AND COATING MATERIALS OF POLYESTER BASE

Nitrogen-contg. metal chelate cpds. used as accelerators (opt. in combination with other accelerators) for unsatd. polyester moulding- or coating compsns. are of formula M(AmmRnR'o) p.Xq (in which M is Co, V, VO, Mn, Cu or Fe; Am is a nitrogenous electron-donor; R is a polyvalent chelate-forming gp.; R' is a complex-bound gp.; m = 1 or 2; n = 1 or 2; o = 0,1 or 2; p = -3 to +3; when p is not =0, X is an ion of the opposite sign and q = -p). They are used in amt. of 0.001-0.5 wt. % w.r.t. the polyester. Polyester are rapidly hardened; there is no dicolouration; the accelerator to active also at relatively low temps.; and the accelerator is used in relatively small amts.
