The inner lining is divided intos ections, one above the other, held by a support structure connected to the outside shaft, with an intervening space, in the chimney where the lining is supported, so as to withstand earthquake tremors. The lining (14) is divided into an outer (15) and an inner shell (17). An annular space (18) is formed by a radial gap between these, and partially or wholly filled with an insulating layer (16). The outer shell is enclosed by a support ring (20) connected to the shaft (10), pref. with a series of horizontally aligned supports providing the connection. These may be W-shaped.
