The rim (2) carries, as seats, grooves (14) whose opposing lateral surfaces (16, 17) extend outwards in a radial direction from the bottom of the groove. Each bead (5) of the tyre comprises a practically inextensible core (6, 7) whose diameter is less than the maximum diameter of the lateral surfaces (16, 17), in order to retain the bead in the groove. The reinforced tread strip (3) has an axial width which is greater than the distance between the axially outward surfaces (17) of the grooves (14).
