The stator has slots in which a three-phase winding is placed, whose individual phases consist of cables formed before placing in position into a prefabricated coherent winding, and connected together. The winding heads pass through mechanically strong insulating shaped elements. Closing and lining elements for the slots are provided on the winding cables. Two shaped elements (12, 12') on two sides of the winding and opposite each other, together with closing and lining elements for two adjacent slots form one single unit (20). The part of the unit between the two shaped elements is pref. formed from a two part tubes.
