The assembly comprises a framework which fits over the adjacent conductors of a phase and has the correct spacing. Each V-shaped end of the frame has shoes which it on the conductor, and the ends are joined by a tie. One end carries a subsidiary frame to which is attached the sighting element. The correct position along the conductor for a tie is determined by conventional measuring methods. The line erection personnel work from a cage attached to the wires. They take sightings to the other phases, and instruct other erectors as to the exact spacer position on these cables.
