Guide and support roll apron for continuous casting plant - where work cylinders mounted on swivels support traverses carrying upper rolls in track

At least two successive support- and/or driven- rolls in the track are located on a transverse, which can be swivelled on stands anchored to a bed frame. The traverse can be moved vertically w.r.t. the cast billet of slab. On the frame are swivel mountings for support and adjusting work cylinders, each contg. a piston fixed via a fork to a tie rod. The top end of each tie rod is connected to a support head clamping traverse; and each rod can be swivelled into or out of a vertical slot in each end of the traverse, the slot being parallel with the axes of the rolls. Head is pref connected to one rod via a pivot, esp a spherical bearing; The head is detachably fixed to the traverse by screws. Compared with conventional guide tracks, the invention provides a simpler track with lower height and increased accessibility for rapid changing of the traverse cylinders and other parts.
