In a repertory dialler, the selection of the wanted number is effected by keying in two or more letter digits using the normal push- button "dialling" keyset each key of which is additionally alphabetically labelled with two or more letters. Each wanted number selection involves setting a separate control key to the "alphabetical" function, and thereafter operating two or more letters keys. Operations may occur under microprocessor control and it is contemplated that the instrument may function as a calculator as well as a telephone. It is also contemplated that the invention be applied to a dial instrument, and that a repertory dialler unit could be a single function unit. |
