Material of animal origin, esp. fish and fish paste, is processed by heating it to a temp. which is high enough to initiate the coagulation of the proteins contained in it. This is done in a first section of a reactor. In a second section, fat and oil are washed out from the coagulating material at a controlled temp. The result is a higher oil yield. The dry end prod. contains a min. of fatty substances. This improves its shelf life and makes it more suitable for conversion into fish meal. |
