The support is for horizontal cylindrical pressure vessels, particularly power-station boilers, there being a cradle between the boiler and the foundation. The cradle (2) has a surface (3) bearing against the boiler periphery (1), but is not secured to it. Holding lugs are welded to the boiler at the works by continuous seams which can be tested there, and alongside the cradle are bearers, welded to the free ends of the lugs on installation.
