PURPOSE:To make the promotion of improvement of the active material availability, with a generation of oxygen gas delayed when over-discharged beyond polarity inversion to prevent the cell from damages, by adding cadmium or cadmium compound to zinc cathode active material in the silver oxide secondary cell. CONSTITUTION:In an anode can 1, for partly serving as the anode current collector, is housed an anode active material 2 mainly composed of silver oxide, and on rop of this, is provided a cathode active material 5 mainly composed of zinc through a separator 4. This is hermetically sealed by a cathode can 6, for partly serving as the cathode current collector, through a sealing gasket 3 to construct the cell. For the cathode active material 5 of this cell, is used a material mainly composed of zinc additionally with a selective quantity of cadmium or cadmium compound to less than 10% of the total capacity. |
