PURPOSE:To prevent wasting of paper by stopping the copying machine unit immediately when the abnormality occured during forward moving of the optical system is detected and stopping the copying machine unit after the paper having completed copying is discharged for the trouble occured during backward moving of the optical system. CONSTITUTION:An origin switch 3 is provided at the starting origin of the optical system 2 moving along a platen 1 and an end switch 4 at the scanning end point. As copying is started, the optical system 2 moves and the start signal from the switch 3 causes the first counter 5 to start counting. The count value until the system reaches the switch 4 is compared 6 with the reference time I. If the count value is longer than said time, an abnormal signal is emitted to the control circuits 7, 8 for the optical system 2 and copying machine unit. The circuits in turn emit a scanning inhibit signal 9 and unit stop signal 14 to stop these. In the return way, the sesond counter 10 starts counting upon detaching of the optical system from the switch 4 and the time until it resets to the origin is compared 11 with the reference time II. When the count value is longer, an abnormal signal is inputted to an AND 12 and a paper discharge signal 13 is inputted to the AND 12, then the operation of the copying machine is stopped by the control circuit 8. |
