PURPOSE:To attain high-precision tracking by a simple constitution by controlling the deviation of a pair of rotary heads, tracking fixed parts of track width, in accordance with their difference in reproduction output. CONSTITUTION:A pair of recording head Hrp1 and reproducing head Hp1 fixed to the same support body connected to a rotary drum through an elastic body trace tracks of full width and 1/M width respectively in accurate tracking. The reproduction output of head Hp1 is multiplied by M and in accordance with a difference signal with the reproduction output of Head Hrp1, a difference signal in case of a negative difference or a signal obtained by multiplying the difference signal by (M+1)/(M-1) in case of a positive difference is used as a control signal to control the deviation of a pair of heads Hpr1 and Hp in a fixed direction. Consequently, the simple constitution requiring no tracking reference signal provides high-precision tracking with a small error, thereby improving recording density. |
