PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording and reproducing device with a little generation of beat noise due to a drop-out or cross talk between adjoining tracks, by giving a video head a difference in level between CH1 and CH2. CONSTITUTION:As for recording reproduction only at a normal speed, head fitting step (alpha) is zero and in variable-speed reproduction, fixed step (alpha) is provided so as to suppress a drop-out and cross talk between adjoining tracks. As a result, recording track width becomes unbalanced between CH1 and CH2, but cross talks 5a and 5b of adjacent tracks of respective heads become balanced. At this time, outputs of respective heads are equal in minimum value and the cross talks of adjacent tracks are driven away vertical on a regenerated picture, so that picture quality can be secured. In this way, the generation of beat noise due to the drop-out and cross talk between adjacent tracks can be reduced. |
