1305312 Making steel sheet NIPPON KOKAN KK 19 April 1971 [24 Jan 1970] 20054/71 Heading B3A [Also in Division C7] A method of continuously annealing cold rolled steel sheets for drawing in which the steel sheet is successively subject to the steps of heating, soaking and cooling and thereafter subject to temper rolling to provide it with low ageing properties characterized in that the sheet is subject to a quenching step after the soaking step and before the cooling step. In the apparatus described the steel sheet is passed through feed rollers 10 to a looper 12 and then to a heating furnace 13 and a soaking furnace 14. The sheet then passes into quenching apparatus 16 which may contain water, olefin gas or other cooling agents. From the quenching apparatus it passes to shelf treatment and jet cooling chambers 17 and 18 respectively, and then via a looper 12 to a levelling and temper rolling machine and thence to an oiler 21 whereafter the sheet is cut and reeled. |
