PURPOSE:To obtain nickel catalyst with carrier having catalytic activity similar to or more than that of the conventional stabilized nickel catalyst with good reproduc- tivity by employing a method entirely different from the conventional method in which a nickel salt is reduced by a dry process by using hydrogen. CONSTITUTION:Hydrazine alone or hydrazine and a basic substance, e.g., a hydroxide of an alkali metal, etc., are added to a nickel salt aqueous solution which contain a silica, alumina, etc., is dipped, and then the solution is heated to cause the wet reduction of nickel salt to take place, whereby metallic nickel is supported on the support. |
