1468700 Coated products SOC GENERALE DE CONSTRUCTIONS ELECTRIQUES ET MECANIQUES ALSTHOM 18 Dec 1974 [21 Dec 1973] 54813/74 Heading B2E [Also in Division C3] Cu wire is enamelled with a solution, e.g. in phenol + aromatic solvent, of a composition which comprises a polyhydantoin (H), and a polyester (E) obtainable from a polyhydric alcohol and (A) aromatic polycarboxylic acid(s) and/or ester-forming derivative thereof, 25-100% of the COOH groups of the acid(s) being derived from an acid of functionality #3. In (E), the number ratio COOH/(COOH + OH) may be 28-50%. (A) may be trimellitic anhydride, trimesic and pyromellitic, benzophenonetetracarboxylic, or naphthalenic dicarboxylic acids or dianhydride, or terephthalic or isophthalic acids, or their esters, or polyfunctional hydroxycarboxylic acids. The alcohol may be e.g. ethylene glycol or 1, 4-butanediol. Based on (E), there may be #15% wt. (H) which may be where Ar is aromatic, R 1 is H or C 1-6 alkyl, R 2 is aromatic or C 4-10 alkylene in which #1 methylene group is optionally replaced by O or S, and n>1. (H) may be dissolved in a cresylic solvent. The solvent(s) are e.g. a phenol + aromatic hydrocarbon or naphtha. An alkyl or aryl titanate may also be present, e.g. in amount 0.5-8% wt based on (E). Also present may be polyisocyanate, which may be blocked, as stoving agent, or phenoplasts or melamine resins. |
